Terms of Service
Last updated: 4 September 2026. I wrote these for our private family archive — not a public product or a company SaaS.
1. Who this archive is for
This site is for Seignemartins and the people we invite — including relatives who no longer carry the name. It is not open to the public. There is no public signup, public tree, or public document library. You join only when a family member invites you, and you create a login only after you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy.
2. Creating your login
Opening an invite link lets you choose a password or, when it is offered, continue with the Google account that matches the invited email. Facebook is not available and will not be added. You must read these terms and the Privacy Policy and check that you accept both before your login is created. Existing family logins stay valid; if I change these documents later, I will say so on this page.
3. Keep this private
Do not scrape, crawl, harvest, republish, sell, or send archive content outside the family without my written permission. Automated access that is not ordinary signed-in family use is not allowed. This includes living-person details, photos, letters, and exports.
4. Your account
Keep your password and signed-in session to yourself. You are responsible for activity under your login. Tell me promptly if you think someone else used it. Do not share passwords or leave a signed-in session on a shared computer or phone.
5. What you contribute
Facts, stories, photos, letters, and other materials you add stay with the family archive and with the people who contributed them. By uploading or entering content, you confirm you have the right to share it with the family here. You give the family permission to store, display, and export that content inside the archive for genealogy and memory-keeping — not for a public website.
6. Living relatives
Living people are treated carefully by default. Names, photos, and identifying details of living relatives may stay hidden from other members until that person (or someone I authorize) opts in. Do not post sensitive living-person information to expose it outside the family. Respect a request to hide or correct a living identity.
7. Stewardship
I (Justin) and designated moderators may verify, edit, hide, revert imports, revoke invites, suspend accounts, and remove content that is inaccurate, harmful, or outside family use. Decisions on access and moderation for this private archive are mine.
8. No warranty
The archive is here for family use, as-is. Genealogy can be incomplete or wrong. There is no warranty of accuracy, uptime, or fitness for a particular purpose. Do not treat this as a sole legal or medical record.
9. Hosting and the codebase
The Origin repository is the source of truth for the code. The intended home for family records is a private Firebase project (Firestore and private file storage), with the site on Firebase App Hosting. Domain DNS for seignemartin.com stays at GoDaddy until I point it at the live app. A preview host or an unpointed domain is not the public internet archive.
10. Changes
I may update these terms as the archive grows. The date at the top is the current version. Questions come to me.
